There are three things people should know about the symptoms of diabetes. Even more than three symptoms of diabetes should be wary.

Before we discuss too much, we discuss first three symptoms of diabetes at an early stage. It is important for you to know before the doctor pronounced, high blood sugar and impaired insulin function.

Early symptoms of Diabetes

Polyuria. Patients with frequent urination, especially at night, and with a lot of volume. It is caused by high blood sugar levels can not be tolerated by the kidney, and that urine released not too concentrated, the kidneys have to pull a lot of water from the body.

Type 2 Diabetes - A New Treatment for Diabetic Kidney Disease

Pentoxifylline, also known as Trental, Pentopak, and Pentoxil, is used in Type 2 diabetes to treat poor circulation to the hands or feet. It helps the red blood cells to go through the smaller blood vessels, bringing oxygen and nutrients to all the cells. According to new research, it could also be helpful in treating diabetic nephropathy, or kidney disease. The kidney is full of many blood vessels that bring blood to be cleansed and returned to the circulation. Blood vessels can be damaged by high blood sugar, and diabetic nephropathy is one of the more serious complications of Type 2 diabetes.
diabetes

In a study published in the journal Nefrologia in November 2012, 100 patients with diabetic nephrology were assigned to two groups. One group was given the usual medications and the other group was given the usual medications as well as pentoxifylline...
  • the patients taking pentoxifylline showed significant improvement, while
  • those patients taking only the standard medications showed no improvement.

From these results it was concluded that pentoxifylline could slow down the progression of diabetic kidney disease. If further research supports this study, then the drug could become one more weapon in the battle to save the kidneys of diabetics.

Pentoxifylline is typically prescribed when patients complain of aching or tiredness in their hands and/or feet. Diabetics often feel pain in their feet or legs when walking, and walking is important. With pentoxifylline they can continue to walk and improve the circulation to their legs and feet to keep them healthy.

The drug is taken three times per day. Improvements are often seen in as little as 2 to 4 weeks, although it can take up to 8 weeks for the full effects to take place. Side effects include upset stomach and vomiting, so the pills should not be taken on an empty stomach. Gas, dizziness, and headaches are other possible mild side effects. Chest pain and fast heartbeat are indications to stop taking the medication immediately and call your doctor.

To prevent diabetic nephropathy:
  • control your blood sugar levels,
  • eat a diet low in fat and cholesterol,
  • maintain a healthy blood pressure (as advised by your doctor), and
  • get enough exercise.

Pain medications such as Ibuprofen or Naprosyn can damage your kidneys, so make sure to discuss this with your doctor. All urinary tract infections should be treated promptly before they can damage your kidneys. Once a year your doctor will want to check your urine for a protein called albumin which should not leak from normal healthy kidneys. He or she can also check your blood to learn whether waste is being cleared from it by your kidneys.

Type 2 diabetes is not a condition you must just live with. It need not slowly and inevitably get worse and lead to diabetic complications, such as kidney disease. Now is the time to take control of the disease... and take back your health.

For nearly 25 years Beverleigh Piepers has searched for and found a number of secrets to help you build a healthy body.

Why Lack of Sleep Cause Diabetes?

People are always lack of sleep will face greater consequences than fatigue and concentrate hard. According to the study, poor sleep habits in the long run increase the risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Scientists investigating the reasons behind the increased risk. Some research suggests that our sleep patterns affect blood sugar levels, a hormone that controls appetite, and even the brain's perception of high-calorie foods.
diabetes

A small-scale study published in the journal The Annals of Internal Medicine, adds to evidence, particularly at the cellular level. Lack of sleep apparently reduces the ability of fat cells to respond to insulin, the hormone that regulates metabolism and plays a major role in diabetes.

In the study the participants were asked to sleep 8 nights in a sleep laboratory. During the first 4 nights they sleep normal hours, and 4 hours of sleep the next night they were only limited to 4.5 hours.

Apparently, after 4 nights of sleep deprivation, insulin sensitivity fell 16 percent respondents. Furthermore, the insulin sensitivity of fat cells down to 30 percent at those experienced by the obese or diabetic.

"Fat cells require sleep, and if hours of sleep deprivation is metabolically they will be disturbed," said Matthew Brady, a senior researcher.

When insulin resistance that had temporarily become frequent, the excess blood sugar and cholesterol will accumulate in the bloodstream, triggering heart disease and diabetes.

Brady said it is not known how the fat cells to recognize when we are sleep deprived. Probably due to lack of sleep will give your body's stress response, causing the release of the stress hormone cortisol and neropinehrine, associated with insulin resistance.

Routine Breakfast Prevent Diabetes

Nutritionists agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The results of a recent study revealed that people who regularly eat breakfast every day lower risk of developing diabetes, obesity, or belly fat hoard.

Regular diet three times a day is recommended rather than random because the diet can lead to obesity and can make blood sugar rise quickly and fall.
breakfast, diabetes

"It is scientifically proven that breakfast not only will lower the risk of diabetes, perhaps they were always breakfast also adopted other healthy lifestyle," said Robert E.Ratner, MD, of the American Diabetes Association.

A study conducted on the benefits of breakfast more than 5,000 men and women, all do not have diabetes when the study began. During the past 18 years they were followed. As a result, those who ate breakfast every day with diabetes risk 34 percent lower, as well as the risk of obesity less than 43 percent and have a fat belly.

Meanwhile, a rather routine breakfast (4-6 times per week) were also lower the risk of developing diabetes (24 percent).

Regarding the type of breakfast alone, no one mentioned the superior kind breakfast. But experts suggest
that the breakfast menu also contains vegetables, protein, complex carbohydrates, and low fat milk.

However, due to changes in modern lifestyles are less healthy makes the prevalence of diabetes was 20 years or 30 years.

3. Often eating sweet cause diabetes

Fact: Diabetes Type I is due to genetic factors and more are being investigated provocation. While type 2 diabetes due to genetic factors triggered by an unhealthy lifestyle. Type 1 diabetes is caused by destruction of the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin, which is not related to sugar consumption. A diet high in calories, whether from sugar or from fat, can increase body weight, which in turn increases the risk of type 2 diabetes.

4. People with diabetes should stop total consumption of sugar

Fact: If eaten as part of a healthy diet plan or combined with exercise, food and sugary drinks may be consumed by diabetics. 9. Use of insulin, diabetes means is severe

Fact: This only applies to patients with diabetes type I. For patients with type II diabetes, usually can keep blood glucose with diet and keep exercising. If that was not enough, doctors advise patients to take oral glucose-lowering drugs. Over time, the patient's body gradually produces less insulin and eventually drugs are not enough to keep blood glucose levels normal. Injections of insulin needed to control blood glucose levels to normal levels.

10. Most importantly keep fasting blood sugar

Although already diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, but one of the nine people with diabetes manage to get blood sugar levels normal or "pre-diabetes" after they have consistent exercise program and dietary adjustments during the year.
diabetes, blood sugar

Can Diabetics Blood Sugar Back to Normal? In medicine, the condition is also called the remission of type 2 diabetes. Although very rare, but there is still hope that lifestyle changes can make diabetics free from drug addiction and avoid the risk of complications.

"So far, there is a presumption that once diagnosed with diabetes can be no remission or cure," said Edward Gregg, lead researcher from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

In a study conducted by Gregg and his team did not prove that the experimental program in the form of counseling for 6 months led to improvements in blood sugar levels. The main purpose of the study is to actually find out if the intervention program can reduce the risk of heart disease.

Improvements in blood sugar levels of participants in the study were, among others, achieved through weight management and fitness. They do intensive exercise program about 3 hours each day and eating arrangements so that your calorie intake per day ranges between 1200-1800 calories.

The study involved 4503 patients with diabetes who are overweight or obese. After a year, about 11.5 percent of the participants had diabetes remission, which means that although it is not taking the drug, but they keep blood sugar levels within normal levels. Approximately one third of participants remained in remission at least four years later.

Diabetes Can Cause Kidney Failure

If diabetes is not controlled properly, over time will be a variety of disturbances in the body's organs, especially the kidneys. Preventing kidney failure and even referred to as the key to a long life of diabetic patients.
kidney failure

The task of the kidneys is to clean the blood residual metabolic substances the body metabolism. To carry out that function, equipped with a coil kidney capillaries called the glomerulus, similar to a small filter.

If the kidneys can not function properly, these substances can not be removed before the rest perfectly. As a result, the remaining substances will accumulate and poison the body.

According to researchers from the University of Washington kidney disease means an increased risk of death in diabetic patients.

The study, published in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology who observed life expectancy 15,000 patients in the 10-year period found that kidneys disease was found in 42.3 percent of patients with diabetes (diabetes).

Other than that 7.7 percent kidneys patients who are not diabetics died in the study period. The risk was increased to 11.5 percent in diabetics, but do not suffer from kidneys disease. While in diabetics who have kidneys disease death risk rises to 31.1 percent.

"People with diabetes mellitus have a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and death, so that kidneys disease is included in the majority of causes of death," said Dr.Maryam Afkarian, lead researcher.

To prevent such deaths, he suggested that diabetic patients to try harder to prevent kidneys disease or intensive therapy.

According to Cathy Moulton, from Diabetes UK advisors, if detected early, diabetic kidneys disease can be controlled using hypertension drugs.

To view the health condition of kidneys, are advised to do a blood test or check cholesterol levels regularly.

Diabetic retinopathy or retinal disorders as part of the complications of diabetes are often overlooked and not recognized. In fact, it can eliminate vision complications.

It was raised in Diabetic Retinopathy program launch, which was held in cooperation Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital and Helen Keller International-Indonesia.

Eye Health Program Manager Helen Keller International Widya Prasetyanti say, diabetes is a major issue. There are 13.5 million diabetics in Indonesia. Almost all people with type one diabetes and 60 percent of people with diabetes suffer from type two diabetic retinopathy risk. Diabetes affects the small blood vessels in one part of the eye, the retina.

"Many were late detected. When a new vision began to blur the patient went to the eye doctor. In fact, diabetic retinopathy can be prevented if it continues to control, "she said. The delay was, among other things, due to the retinal screening program has not been the treatment of diabetes.

"Proper foot care, blood vessels, and the heart is more known to the public. If there is a disruption in the eye, usually directly into the eye clinic, "she said.

To that end, Helen Keller International and Cipto Mangunkusumo make Diabetic Retinopathy program. "Through this program there will be a screening or photograph the retina in diabetes clinic. Health clinic diabetic eye piece. Conversely, if there is indication of disturbances in the retina due to diabetes, diabetes can be referred to the clinic, "she said.

Director Akmal Taher Cipto Mangunkusumo hope, will no related research program, given Cipto Mangunkusumo also teaching hospitals. (INE)

Type 2 Diabetes - Diet and Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes consists of abnormally high blood sugar levels during pregnancy. It can be controlled with diet, exercise and medication, but pregnancies complicated by Gestational diabetes must be managed carefully.

Investigators at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada, set out to discover whether the mother's diet during the second trimester of their pregnancy could influence whether they would suffer Gestational diabetes during their last trimester. (Pregnancies are divided up into three trimesters, equal divisions of a normal 40-week pregnancy).

The study, whose results were published in September 2012 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, included 205 pregnant women without Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes at the start of their pregnancy. Forty-seven per cent were diagnosed with Gestational diabetes by 30 weeks of pregnancy.

Mothers diagnosed with Gestational diabetes tended to have consumed more saturated and trans fat, and more sugar than those with a healthy pregnancy. Higher vegetable and fruit fiber intake were associated with a lower risk for the condition, and higher insulin sensitivity.

From this information, it was concluded diet during their second trimesters of pregnancy influenced the patient's risk of having Gestational diabetes in their third trimesters.

The study was consistent with earlier work at Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers in Northern California, USA, and reported on in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology in February of 2010. Eleven hundred and forty-five women were included in this study, which demonstrated those who gained more than the recommended safe weight gain during pregnancy, increased their risk of Gestational diabetes by 50 per cent.

According to the Mayo Clinic, appropriate weight gain during pregnancy depends upon the mother's weight before pregnancy...
  • for an underweight woman, defined as having a body mass index (BMI) of 18.5 or less, 28 to 40 pounds is recommended.
  • a woman of normal weight, with a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9, should gain 25 to 35 pounds.
  • for a woman who is overweight, defined as having a BMI of 25.0 to 29.9, 15 to 20 pounds are adequate, and
  • women with a BMI of 30 or over need gain only 11 to 20 pounds.

Check with your doctor for the right target weight gain for you, and bear in mind most weight gain typically takes place in the last trimester. "Eating for two" does not necessitate overeating; adding 100 to 300 calories per day is usually enough. A healthful diet with little saturated or trans fats or refined sugar and a good supply of fruits and vegetables is a good idea all the time, and perhaps even more important when you are taking in nutrients for two.

Type 2 diabetes is no longer a condition you must just live with. It need not slowly and inevitably get worse. If you have Gestational diabetes, take care with the type and amount of food you are eating. You can take back your health in order to prevent developing full-blown Type 2 diabetes..

Lack of sleep can cause the body to sweat and worsen dehydration. Tiredness or stress also increases the desire to consume sugar and foods that should be avoided.

3. No monitor blood sugar
To ensure that the body needs insulin dose or treatment is right you do need regular blood sugar checks. Monitoring blood sugar is also helpful to know if the blood sugar suddenly dropped or too high.

Use of Corn Sugar Trigger Diabetes

Research has shown, the use of corn sugar (HFCS) as a sweetener processed foods and soft drinks affect the increase in the number of cases (prevalence) for type 2 diabetes. Research experts from the University of Southern California and the University of Oxford published journal Global Public Health stated, the high use of HFCS in one country can have implications for the increasing cases of type 2 diabetes.
drinks containing corn sugar

In the United States and other countries, the use of corn sugar or high-fructose corn syrup as a sweetener is common.
After conducting research in 42 countries, the researchers concluded that the prevalence of diabetes cases on average 20 percent higher in states that use HFCS as a sweetener, compared to countries that do not use HFCS.

Although it has not been able to demonstrate causal relationships are unclear, but the tendency of HFCS plays a role in increasing the risk of diabetes compared with other types of sugar.

"HFCS is one type of sugar that can cause health problems on a global scale," said one researcher Michael I. Goran, MD, director of the Childhood Obesity Research Center and co-director of the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity Research at the Keck School of Medicine at USC in a release. "The results of this study adds to the scientific references that indicate consumption of HFCS may be bad for health, and more dangerous than natural sugar."

HFCS is typically used as a sweetener in beverages and snacks, and other processed foods. Unlike glucose from natural sugar, the sweetness comes from fructose than HFCS. Its high content of fructose makes the body very easily turn into fat. That is because there are differences in the body metabolizes glucose and fructose. Therefore, consumption of fructose can be at risk obesity.

Type 2 diabetes, often associated with obesity, and is one of the diseases that cause of death worldwide. According to his research, Goran stated nearly 8 percent of people in the world could be suffering from diabetes by 2030 if consumption of HFCS is forwarded. Therefore, to prevent type 2 diabetes, you should immediately reduce the consumption of all forms of sugar and artificial sweeteners contained in beverages or snacks.

4 Ways to Avoid Excess Sugar

Soft drinks are loaded with sugars fructose know can affect appetite. Namely by affecting certain parts of the brain that regulates appetite. Therefore, fructose intake must be limited.

A study in 2002 published in the journal Neuroscience found that a diet high in sugar can cause memory loss in addition to lead to insulin resistance, which causes metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.

Another study, in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2001, found that people who got more than 25 percent of calories from sugar are twice as likely to have high levels of good cholesterol (HDL) levels.

It is a good idea to limit the excess sugar in our diet everyday because under the guidelines of the American Heart Association, we should get no more than 5 percent of the total calories we consume daily from added sugars.

Here are some tips to reduce sugar in your diet:

• Limit soft drinks and juices
Besides the obvious soft drinks contain a lot of added sugar, juice also need to reduce their consumption. Because often we drink fruit juice added a lot of sugar for a sweet cause. If you want to eat fruit juice, let the sweetness comes from the fruit without the need to add more sugar to it.

• Do not fully trust the food, "natural"
Just because something is "natural" does not mean it's not loaded with sugar. Honey, agave and maple syrup is an example. If you too believe, you will get excess fructose than your body needs. Just one tablespoon of honey contains about 17 grams of sugar.

• Be careful in the use of herbs
The tomato sauce is a source of sugar shock to most people. Because the raw material is highly acidic tomatoes, sugar is used to balance the flavors contributed.

• Always read the label
Corn sweeteners, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, fructose, sucrose and dextrose all it is a kind of sugar. Food ingredients in the order listed on food labels, so if high fructose corn syrup is the first ingredient listed, it means there is more sugar than other ingredients in a food or beverage.

Diabetes Is Not Curable, But Controllable

Diabetes Is Not Curable, But Controllable. After becoming a diabetic, one of the scary and threatening questions of all patients is to know about the steps and measures to cure diabetes. There are many researchers and doctors claiming that the "cure" for diabetes is not yet found out. The reality is that, there is no a prescribed treatment for diabetes to cure permanently. It is a metabolism disorder in the body. This disorder leads to the improper functioning of insulin inside the body. To know about diabetes, it is more important to know about the functions of insulin. Insulin is a hormone which converts the food we consume into energy to our cells. The wide-spread attack of this trouble is even eating the health of small children. It is generally categorized as:
  1. Type 1 Diabetes (T1D)
  2. Type 2 Diabetes (T2D)
  3. Gestational Diabetes.

T1Dcauses due to the non production of insulin either from the birth or childhood years. But T2D is not a matter that appears one day on your life. It happens due to the improper functioning of organs beginning from earlier.

The diabetes supplies and diabetes products are widely and easily available in the markets. The health insurance companies and other organizations give free diabetes supplies. But, it is a misery to realize that, these products do not answer as a final cure of this illness.

There are several opportunities to cure people with T1D, such as:
  • Pancreatic transplantation
  • Islet cell transplantation
  • Artificial pancreas
  • Genetic manipulation

These methods adopted only with the approval of medical practitioner. These are almost risky and the condition about its cure is a matter of luck and god's grace.

To define T2D, is a disease which needs many changes adopted in the patient's lifestyle. It develops in the body due to resistance of pancreas to produce insulin. Thus, the body resists the passage of insulin and this may increase the glucose level inside your body. To control and prevent its complications, several changes in the lifestyle is strictly adopted. They are:
  1. Avoiding food which has more carbohydrates, refined sugar, processed food and dairy products.
  2. Drink more water in a day.
  3. Including protein rich and vegetables in the diet.
  4. Avoiding the usage of added fat and salt.
  5. Consume food that digests slowly. For example, Brown rice, oatmeal etc,.
  6. Test the sugar level in regular period and interval.
  7. Exercise at least five days in a weak.
  8. Take herbal remedies with the consult of your doctor.
  9. Include medicines for controlling the sugar level with the advice of the physician or a qualified medical practitioner.
  10. Exercises such as walking, swimming etc is good for the diabetics and resisting heart diseases.

Eating grape fruit is good for the diabetics. This is a good remedy for reducing and losing the weight of your body. Obesity is one of the big enemies of this disease. Thus by reducing the weight, the risk factor for getting this difficulty is less.

Likewise, cinnamon is also considered as a substitute of insulin. Cinnamon is ideal for fighting against diabetes.

Beating this dilemma is a matter of converting your lifestyle by including the tips of controlling and preventing this disease.

New Technologies Wound Healing in Diabetic

New Technologies Wound Healing in Diabetic. Diabetes is a disease whose prevalence is increasing in Indonesia. Bad lifestyle and a less active part of the reason why this disease affects more and more. The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued even data that Indonesia ranks the fourth largest in the world for the number of people with diabetes.

Wound for diabetics is a scary thing. Because in general, people with diabetes so difficult to heal wounds in his body. Wounds in diabetic patients usually causes inflammation and 85 percent of the inflamed wound has a tendency to be amputated. This has led to decreased quality of life of diabetic patients.

Biochemist from Queensland University of Technology Professor Zee Upton said it is important for diabetics to treat and manage the injury properly. The reason for diabetics wounds can be fatal.

"Maintaining and managing wound using modern science can help improve the quality of life of tens of thousands of patients with diabetes Indonesia," he said in a seminar entitled "Wound Management Innovation: Development of technologies, equipment and therapies and clinical applications' organized by the Australian Embassy in Jakarta , Wednesday (02/20/2013).

Upton in that event also introduces the latest technology-based biotechnology for treating wounds is the result of research with more than 40 other researchers. This technology is called VitroGro - ECM technology that is innovative wound healing therapy that involves various types of disciplines including biomedical sciences, chemistry, mathematics, information technology, and other clinical sciences. Principles of VitroGro - ECM matrix technology that stimulates cells to grow and migrate with a layer of some kind of protein.

"Results from a clinical trial of VitroGro-ECM on the wound incurable showed promising results that wound closed perfectly with scars minimized," said Upton.

Chronic Wound pose a major challenge for the health care system to be healed. According to Upton, treatment with conventional methods requires huge cost. Therefore, with this technology, Upton hopes to wound management becomes more cost effective. "In addition, patients will be more comfortable considering the technology is relatively painless in the patient's body," he said.

Although the technology is sophisticated enough to close the wound, but the technology can not be used to cure diabetes. "This technology can only be used for chronic wounds, including wounds in patients with diabetes," said Upton.
