Can Diabetics Blood Sugar Back to Normal?
Although already diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, but one of the nine people with diabetes manage to get blood sugar levels normal or "pre-diabetes" after they have consistent exercise program and dietary adjustments during the year.
Can Diabetics Blood Sugar Back to Normal? In medicine, the condition is also called the remission of type 2 diabetes. Although very rare, but there is still hope that lifestyle changes can make diabetics free from drug addiction and avoid the risk of complications.
"So far, there is a presumption that once diagnosed with diabetes can be no remission or cure," said Edward Gregg, lead researcher from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
In a study conducted by Gregg and his team did not prove that the experimental program in the form of counseling for 6 months led to improvements in blood sugar levels. The main purpose of the study is to actually find out if the intervention program can reduce the risk of heart disease.
Improvements in blood sugar levels of participants in the study were, among others, achieved through weight management and fitness. They do intensive exercise program about 3 hours each day and eating arrangements so that your calorie intake per day ranges between 1200-1800 calories.
The study involved 4503 patients with diabetes who are overweight or obese. After a year, about 11.5 percent of the participants had diabetes remission, which means that although it is not taking the drug, but they keep blood sugar levels within normal levels. Approximately one third of participants remained in remission at least four years later.
